Long Seridan Airport (ODN) is a short take-off and landing port, or STOLport, serving the village of Long Seridan in the Baram interior of Sarawak. AirBorneo flies here under the Rural Air Service, with direct flights recorded to Miri and Marudi. AirBorneo's check-in and baggage rules depend on the aircraft, and the land route to the village runs on logging roads.

The village of Long Seridan

Long Seridan is a Kelabit settlement in Marudi District (the former Baram District) of Sarawak's Miri Division. It lies about 590 km east-north-east of Kuching.

The village has homestays, and visitors come for jungle trekking, fishing and visits to nearby Penan settlements.

The airstrip at Long Seridan

The airport has one bitumen runway, designated 04/22 and 548 m (1,798 ft) long. As a STOLport, it can take only small turboprops such as the DHC-6 Twin Otter. Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) operates the airstrip, which was first built in the early 1960s.

Reaching Long Seridan by road

By land, Long Seridan is reached on logging roads. A rescue reported in September 2026 described the logging roads it used in the Long Seridan area as slippery and badly potholed.

The November 2025 bridge and village road

On 12 November 2025 a suspension bridge over Sungai Maoh (also spelt Magoh) and Phases 1 and 2 of a village road upgrade in Kampung Long Seridan were officially opened under Sarawak's Rural Transformation Programme. They were opened by Datuk Gerawat Gala, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department and the state assemblyman for Mulu. The projects were reported as improving villagers' access to neighbouring settlements, schooling and essential services.

Malaysia Aviation Group announced that AirBorneo assumed full legal and operational responsibility for all services previously operated by MASwings from 1 January 2026.

These are Rural Air Service flights, which the federal government defines as non-economic air services in remote and sparsely populated areas of Sabah and Sarawak, where air transport is the primary link with the outside world. As reported in July 2026, AirBorneo runs the network under a Public Service Obligation agreement with the federal government, and its chief executive was quoted as saying that any schedule change first needs the Ministry of Transport's approval under that agreement.

AirBorneo's conditions of carriage say check-in deadlines vary by airport, so ask the airline for the deadline at Long Seridan. The table shows AirBorneo's rules as of September 2026. Check your allowance with AirBorneo before you fly, because conditions of carriage change.

Arriving from Peninsular Malaysia: Sarawak's entry rule

Section 66 of the Immigration Act 1959/63 restricts the right of Malaysian citizens to enter East Malaysia. A Malaysian from Peninsular Malaysia needs a pass or permit to enter and be in Sarawak, even though every flight on the way is domestic.

For a short stay, the Immigration Department issues a free, single-journey Document in Lieu of Internal Travel Document at the immigration counters in Sabah and Sarawak airport arrival halls, allowing a Social or Business Visit Pass of up to three months. Travellers aged 12 and over show an identity card, and younger children a birth certificate.

A stay of more than three months calls for a Restricted Travel Document, valid for five years. The Immigration Department's list of Sarawak offices issuing it includes Miri, and Long Seridan is not on that list. To fly from Sarawak to another part of Malaysia, the department asks for an identity document, a valid pass and a boarding pass.

Weather and cancelled flights

AirBorneo's conditions of carriage count adverse weather among the causes of delay or cancellation outside its control. In those cases the airline has no immediate obligation to carry, re-route or refund, although it says it will make reasonable efforts to assist. On 1 September 2026 haze led AirBorneo to cancel two of its Sarawak flights even though runway visibility at the airport they were due to leave stayed well above its minimum.
